Your first property with the guided setup: what each step asks and why

By GuestChat Team ·

Your first day with a new tool decides whether you really use it or give up on it. That's why setting up your first property is a guided walkthrough that only asks what applies to you. Here's what each step asks for and, above all, why it asks.

Your preferences: three questions

  • How does your guest get in? A lock, a code, a key or someone waiting. The AI explains something different in each case.
  • Where do your bookings come from? If you tick booking sites, the walkthrough will take you to connect them.
  • Do you organise cleanings with Turno? If you use it, cleanings get scheduled on their own after each stay.

You can change all of this later.

The steps

After the welcome and a short explanation of how it works:

  1. Basic info: name and address. As soon as you type the name, the property is created on its own, and you won't lose what you've written even if you close the page.
  2. Access & WiFi: how guests get all the way inside, and the WiFi password.
  3. AI knowledge: what the AI needs to know about your place.
  4. Services & parking.
  5. OTAs: the same grid as in Booking channels.
  6. Lock & cleaning: Nuki and Turno, if you use them.
  7. Auto messages: your automated messages.
  8. Checklist.
  9. Your panel: a quick tour of the screens.

The final check

It only checks what you said you wanted, and it separates the must-haves from the nice-to-haves. Here's what it looks at, and why:

  • The AI answers on its own: this is the property's main switch. If it's off, the AI doesn't reply anywhere.
  • Name and address: so the AI knows which place it's talking about.
  • Step-by-step arrival instructions: which building entrance, which floor, which door.
  • WiFi: one of the two questions every guest asks.
  • Check-in and check-out times: if you leave them empty, the AI makes do with 3:00 PM, a time you never gave.
  • How many people fit: otherwise your listing goes out to the booking sites saying it sleeps 2.
  • Price per night: without a starting price, the booking sites don't publish anything.
  • Booking portals, if you said you wanted to connect them.
  • How the door opens and, with a smart lock, Smart lock linked: you need both, or the door never opens.
  • Turno, if you said you use it.

Try it yourself

In the check you'll find Try it yourself: it opens the same chat your guest sees. Ask what time check-in is or what the WiFi is, and see what it answers. It's the fastest way to know if it works.

If you stop halfway

You can tap Pause and leave: nothing is lost, and next time you pick up where you left off. And if something is still pending at the end, Leave it for later keeps the property created and saved. You can also run the walkthrough again whenever you like from Settings, with Revisit guided tour.

The three details that cause the most trouble

  1. Check-in and check-out times. If they're empty, the AI uses a default time.
  2. Capacity. If it's empty, the booking site publishes 2 people.
  3. Base price. If it's empty, the connection looks fine and nothing sells.

Fill in those three even if you're in a hurry. The rest can be completed over the next few days.
