What each channel status means and how to fix it
By GuestChat Team ·
The Booking channels grid is designed so you don't have to interpret anything. Each cell for a booking site that's already connected can be in one of three situations: all good, you're missing a step, or something's wrong. And always with a color and a word, never just a color. Still, it helps to know what's behind each message, especially the first time you see one in red.
Green: Published
The booking site is receiving your prices and your open dates. If no booking has come in that way yet, the detail says so: "All good. No booking has come through here yet." That's not an error, it's a newly connected site.
Amber: you're missing a step
- Needs setting up. The property doesn't exist yet in the system that talks to the booking sites. It's a one-click step on our side with Set it up: it doesn't change prices or publish anything.
- Needs accepting there. You opened the booking site and didn't finish accepting. The Finish button lets you pick it up again.
- Needs linking. The booking site is connected, but it doesn't know which listing this apartment is. Click Link property.
- Just needs turning on. Everything is paired. When you click Turn on, it starts sending prices and open dates.
- Not published there. We're sending prices and availability as usual, but the listing is unpublished on the booking site. You publish it from there: See on the portal takes you to it.
Red: something's wrong
- The connection no longer exists. Nothing comes through: no prices, no bookings, no messages. Time to Reconnect.
- Not linked to its listing. It used to work and it stopped: either you removed it, or the booking site dropped the link. You don't lose anything you already have; once you pair it again, everything carries on.
- The portal is removing it. The booking site has flagged the listing for removal. See what's wrong takes you to check what it's asking you for.
- A connection setting is missing. The connection was created without a setting the booking site needs. That's our mistake, and you fix it with Complete settings without touching what you already have.
The odd case: the booking site isn't getting your prices
This is the most confusing status, because in the dashboard everything looks fine: linked, turned on and with prices. But the booking site hasn't accepted a single update and keeps showing the prices you set by hand over there. The steps, from most to least likely:
- Link it again. Open Set up in the cell, click Change the listing and choose the same listing. It rewrites the full link and doesn't change any price.
- Check whether you can change the price by hand on the booking site. If you can, the booking site hasn't handed control to any program. Write to their support and ask for the listing to be managed by your software, with your connectivity provider.
- Were you coming from another program? In the same message, ask them to disconnect your account from the previous program. Booking sites give each listing to only one program.
- Remove any imported calendars the listing has on the booking site: they overwrite what comes in.
- Once the booking site confirms, don't touch anything else. The cell turns green on its own with the first accepted update.
Messages that don't arrive
Sometimes the cell looks fine and a warning still shows up: "Guest messages don't arrive for this property." Below it you have Activate them. It's worth checking on day one: without messages, the AI can't reply on that booking site.
Recommended routine
- Check the grid once a week, especially before high season.
- If something shows up in amber, do the step that same day: every day it's not published is a day the booking site sells with old prices.
- If you see red, read the whole detail before touching anything. It almost always tells you exactly what to do.
