Closing dates: a weekend, a season, or from a given day onward
By GuestChat Team ·
There are many reasons to stop selling some nights: a week of renovation work, family visiting in August, an apartment you are going to sell, or a season that isn't worth it. What matters is closing them in one place and having them close on every booking site at the same time. There are three ways, each for a different case.
1. A specific stretch
In the Calendar, select the stretch with two clicks and set it to Closed. Closed means blocked on every connected channel. For a single night, click the day and change it.
If you later click any day in a closed period, the dashboard finds the whole stretch from where you clicked and lets you reopen all of it or change either of its two dates. You don't have to remember where it started.
2. Stop selling
In the options for a day or a stretch there is Stop sell, which blocks that date on every channel. It is useful when you want the date on hold without touching the price or the restrictions.
3. Close bookings from a date
For things with no end date. In the calendar Settings, under "Who's in charge of each property", there is Close bookings from a date:
- For one property, in its settings.
- For all of them, at the bottom: the dashboard asks "Close bookings in ALL your properties?" before doing it, and the label tells you how many you already have closed without opening it.
You pick the day and, from then on, nothing else is sold. If you later decide to keep going a while longer, you can move the closure to a later date. And if you change your mind completely, Lift.
A past date won't work: closing from yesterday would stop sales from today, so the dashboard asks you to choose today or a later date.
What gets reopened and what doesn't
Lifting the closure reopens the nights that this rule closed. It never reopens a night with a booking, or anything you had closed by hand for another reason. In other words: if you closed the renovation week separately, it stays closed even if you lift the seasonal closure.
This works because the dashboard keeps track of why each night is closed: because of a booking, because of the booking window, because of the closure from a date, or because you closed it yourself. That way no general cleanup reopens what it shouldn't.
Real-life uses
- Selling the apartment or the end of a lease: closure from a date, with bookings already made left untouched.
- Renovation work in January: a closed stretch for January, without touching anything else.
- Personal use in August: a closed stretch. If you want a record of who is staying, a manual booking with no charge also blocks the nights and lets you see the name on the calendar.
- A season that isn't worth it: closure from a date, and you lift it in spring.
Common mistakes
- Closing on each booking site separately. You are bound to miss one. Do it here.
- Using the booking window to sell an apartment. The window moves with the days; the closure from a date doesn't.
- Thinking that lifting the closure reopens everything. It only reopens what that rule closed.
Checklist
- Does the closure have an end date? A closed stretch. No end date? Closure from a date.
- Check there are no bookings inside the stretch before closing it.
- Look at the grid afterwards: closed nights are visible at a glance.
